He received his M.D. degree from University of Siena (Tuscany, Italy) in 1994. After his Residency in General Surgery at the same University, he worked as Assistant Surgeon in the General and Minimally Invasive Surgery Division directed by Prof. P.C. Giulianotti in Grosseto (Tuscany, Italy). In this period (2001-2007) he completed your surgical training, acquiring a progressive experience in major abdominal, thoracic, and minimally invasive surgery. In this team, he was an active protagonist of robotic surgery from its beginning and he participated at the development and standardization of new robotic procedures. His surgical training includes also two fellowships in Vascular Surgery (University of Granada, Spain) and Laparoscopic Surgery (ILS of Bordeaux, France). From November 2007 to March 2014, he was Chief of Department of Surgery and Director of General and Minimally Invasive Surgery Division at the Misericordia Hospital of Grosseto. From April 2014 he’s Director of Division of Oncological and Robotic General Surgery at Careggi University Hospital of Florence. He’s even the Coordinator of the clinical and didactical programs in robotic surgery at the same Institution. His overall series amounts to more of 5000 surgeries, of which about 1200 and 650 performed by laparoscopic and robotic approach respectively. The minimally invasive surgical experience includes major procedures in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, and colorectal surgery. He’s even the Coordinator of the International School of Robotic Surgery at Grosseto, and Professor of Surgery at School of General Surgery of the University of Florence and University of Siena.
His scientific activity includes:
- 61 scientific publications (IF 53.39, RG Score 23.81);
- many invitations as speaker at medical congresses;
- proctoring and didactical programs in robotic and laparoscopic surgery.
